Markus Merzinger (drums), Stephan Blumenschein (guitar, voc) and Tom Grüner (bass) are delilah from linz/austria.
even though it’s a traditional guitar-bass-drums formation, those 3 guys deliver everything but „classic rock“. their songs regularly exceed the 5 min. mark without letting you get tired of repeats. boredom doesn’t occur; as soon as a melody or a rhythm seizes you, a turn takes place. thick sound walls are evocated and break down either the next moment or squeeze you against the wall until air comes back into your lungs and you take a deep breath, so right then you get hit by the next part. rhythms and (dis)harmonies are explored, hardly a song without tempo and/or rhythm changes. they love 7/8 as much as 4/4. despite well elaborated sequences there’s always space for spontaneity and improvisation. often you think those 3 play without any plan, each one for himself, and suddenly they are a team again and after you as hell. beautiful catchy melodies are followed by chaos and insanity. the sporadically used vocals are surprising and don’t mistake its minimalism with meaninglessness, but it’s a antipole to “space-fillers” and singers believing they have to say a lot.
a band committed to duality and thereby creating their own aesthetic.
