BRAAZ, a free jazz / avant-garde / rock / noise quartett from linz, austria, was founded in 2002, wanting to explore new horizons. BRAAZ has started to play with bands such as ted milton´s blurt and taking part in many interesting projects and collectives. the music of BRAAZ, varying from sheet music to liberating improvisation, is contradiction and approval, sonority and noise. in their music seeming opposites contrast and in the end join to dance together. BRAAZ, who dares to flirt with many different styles of music, owns the ability to seduce a number of different audiences, from more select jazz listeners to a wild young rock public, is at its best live on stage. the debut release CD “SO” is their glowing masterpiece and can be bought together with the vinyl LP “DA”. “DA” includes 16 new and unreleased tracks, that can’t be found on the CD release. “SO” - “DA” is the perfect combination to explore the erratic and varying universe of BRAAZ. While the genre-flirt in “SO” “DA” pulls the rug out from under a listener’s expectations, one should not fear that BRAAZ surfing on a free-jazz noise rock avant-garde avalanche.
